Shake down in the positive
“Gotta shake down the R1T and see if it works as planned.” I always feel cool telling someone I am doing that. Even though, I know deep down they aren’t impressed and in fact don’t really care. By the way I don’t mean shake down like a con or a robbery but shake down like a beta test. My R1T shake down is a two day, overnight road trip to fish on new water in a new area, Lanesboro, MN.
Storage, ride, music and Alexa all performed better than Ridgeline. Began driving on a cold morning at 75 to 80 mph. Ate up range more quickly than my navigation predicted. Stop to recharge was high speed in Madison Wisconsin 30 mins for bathroom, breakfast snacks and text/email pretty good. Arrived Lanesboro mid day with regular charging, lunch and fly shop all within a few blocks. Cool town, great fly shop and a solid lunch enjoyed. Time to fish.
Reviewed locations, and sorted equipment while listening to my new Rivian bluetooth speaker. Missing tool to attach rod racks to crossbars. Successfully, went fishing down dirt roads and tracks with fantastic off road capabilities. Watched Monday night football at the local bar and had dinner. Used my Rivian flashlight to find my stuff and walked a couple of blocks to my hotel room while the Rivian fully charged.
More dirt roads and fishing. The gear tunnel door is a great seat and the frunk, gear tunnel and under bed storage is awesome. My anxiety about running out of charge is slightly diminished Although still there. The R1T shook down well and compared to the Ridgeline I am pleased. Didn’t need to pack a speaker, a flashlight, a chair and locks and cables as they are already part of the truck. I have added the forgotten tool to cargo. Successful shake down so now ready for more trips.
October kept on cooking and was tons of fun, family in Philadelphia, Napa and San Francisco and buddies in Reno and Lake Tahoe. See the slide show below.
